People are creatures of habit and pattern. We are so entrenched in our habitual nature, we often do not see another way. When you engage in a deeper level of healing often associated with enhancing your consciousness, learning about de-programming and de-patterning yourself is a core practice. Everything about you, from your physical movement, to your spiritual values, to your ideas about yourself, to the way you live your life is based off of some sort of pattern, habit, addiction, or program. Self-awareness is learning how to recognize these repetitive actions and thoughts and then learning how to consciously change them. There are certain crystals that will help you become more aware during the process such as amethyst, lepidolite, fluorite, and just quartz itself.
Amethyst is a core healing stone, and one of the first crystals people collect on their healing path with crystals. Among it’s many healing properties, amethyst is a great stone for healing addictions. Patterns can range from more acute addictions, such as issues with drugs and alcohol, to what we would consider mild addictions, such as an addiction to food, coffee, sugar, a person, or even a behavior. We are all given challenges to change our behaviors and patterns throughout life. We are creatures of habits. We are creatures of patterns. We all use these patterns and behaviors to help us move through life, and these behaviors are our coping mechanisms. When you’re trying to change your coping mechanisms and habits, simply carrying a stone in your pocket with the intention of healing patterns, is a wonderful support system to help you manifest change.

When we heal addictions and patterns it’s a trial and error process. It is not often that you wake up and decide to quit something, and instantly quit. Most of us have to really work for it. I thought about quitting smoking for seven years before I was really able to make the change. It was working with stones that helped me to get over that habit. You have to give yourself space and time when working through an addiction. You have to be disciplined in the way that you have to start over if you have a mistake. Eventually with perseverance, determination, positive affirmations, and the right crystals in your pocket, you will move past the addiction and into a more positive behavior that is more suited for your spiritual development. It’s hard work healing addictions, it’s not a straight line from point A to B, it’s a swirling line, but there are crystals that can help you along the way. How To Work with Amethyst To Heal Patterns & Addictions
- Program amethyst with your healing intention. Hold an amethyst crystal in the palm of your hand or rest on your third eye and repeat your intention (verbally or mentally) 3 times in the present tense. For example: “Thank you amethyst for gently healing my pattern to use sugar as a coping mechanism. I no longer need this relationship with sugar.”
- Carry your amethyst in your pocket for at least 2 weeks, or until there is noticeable change in your behavior. Repeat your mantra daily, or more often for faster change or more intense patterns.
- Sleep with your amethyst under your pillow to continue healing work on an unconscious level.
- Clean or clear your crystal at least once a week, or when you get the intuition that the stone is cloudy, to keep it radiating healing at its highest potential. Clearing may be done by thanking your crystal, letting the stone rest overnight in salt water, placing in the light of the full moon, or smudging with sage.
