Twice a year the universe gives our lives a harsh reality check.
Every six months we experience an eclipse season, each being a two and a half week period that contains a solar and lunar eclipse. 🌑
This eclipse season begins on October 14th with a solar eclipse in the sign of Libra.
We then close the portal with a lunar eclipse in Taurus on October 28th.
The unstable energy during this time brings experiences that help us look at what keeps holding us back, what cycles we repeat, and how we can break them to begin moving forward.
While there is sometimes fear surrounding eclipse season, it is incredibly powerful and necessary for our evolution.
Eclipse season shakes us to switch our perspective, and sometimes this is quite literally picking us up and turning us 180 degrees.
Changing perspective requires contrast. 🌓
As we move through life, we are constantly going to need software updates. We need to make sure that we are updating the systems within us and that they still align with who we are and where we want to go.
A lot of the time we have to drop versions of ourselves or situations that we thought would be in our lives forever.
But letting go of something doesn't always mean that it completely disappears, but rather you allow it to go back to the natural flow of how things are meant to be.
Maybe in releasing your attachment to the way something is actually clears room for it to still exist in your life in a different, healthier way.
As we move through the ebb and flow of life, we inevitably end up in an environment we’re not supposed to be in, with people we aren’t meant for, or in a situation that isn’t aligned with who we truly are.
When we are thick in the middle of it all, it is extremely difficult to pull ourselves out, and sometimes we aren’t even able to see clearly enough to know we have deviated from our path.
Eclipses draw the line.
Eclipses push the first domino.
They will get you fired from a job you hate.
A person who's not meant to be in your life will leave.
It provides blessings that need a moment of cosmic perspective, because it isn’t always what we think we want, but it always works out in the best way possible. ☁️
The way we flow with the energy determines how we feel and how our lives look when we come out of this two week period.
For example, committing to less, prioritizing self-care and knowing that this is not a time for manifesting or beginning a brand new project will help you utilize this energy.
Cozy up on the couch and watch all of the Harry Potter movies if I’m being honest.
While this is a period of time that brings drastic change for the better, it's going to be hard to see the clearer picture until we are out of the fog.
Do journaling reflection as you feel called, but don’t set any specific expectations for yourself until November.
And if you’re someone who struggles with change or has the tendency to cling to an identity or circumstance, buckle up. 🚗
Karmic Balance
The moon rules over the emotional body- our feelings and intuition.
It’s feminine and mothering energy.
The moon represents our inner world and is often the sign that people feel the most connected to.
The nodes of the moon are two specific points where the moon's orbit intersects the plane of the earth’s orbit, which is also known as the ecliptic.
These points also fall within a zodiac sign and each of us are born with a sign in the North Node and a sign in the South Node that are always opposite of each other. ☯
The luminary and planetary positions within a birth chart are more defining of the personality, while the nodes show the soul's purpose and the journey that is unfolding.
The North Node represents our “hunger”- the sign where we are encouraged to grow into. ☊
We are not born with the skills of this sign, so they will not feel natural to us. It shows the challenges we are meant to overcome in order to become the person we are meant to be.
Those with Aries as their natal North Node have a life-long journey of stepping into their own power.
The South Node represents our past lives and what we are meant to shed. ☋
For those with Libra in the South Node in their birth chart, shedding people-pleasing ideals and building an independent identity is the story that will be unfolding their entire life.
The nodes represent our karmic balance and remind us that duality is inevitable.
Even as we shed our attachment to others we are reminded that life is not meant to be done alone.
A Story Unfolds
The nodes change signs every 18 months.
With every switch, we begin a new story. 📖
And eclipses show us what we need to let go of in order to advance that storyline.
We are moving out of our Taurus-Scoripo story that has been unfolding since November 2021.
Whatever houses the two occupied show the areas of your life that have been undergoing rapid transformation over the past year and a half.
Now we are moving into the Aries-Libra storyline that began with the Aries full moon on April 20th of this year and won’t officially close until April 8th, 2024.
During this time, we are moving towards developed Aries energy while releasing undeveloped Libra energy, meaning that we are in a story about dropping people-pleasing efforts and honoring our own independence.
It's about stepping into your power and releasing the idea that others' approval affects your identity.
It’s shedding embarrassment.
It’s releasing patterns that keep us from intimacy.
It's knocking down the boundaries we’ve placed that once kept us safe, but are no longer needed.
Libra doesn’t ever want to rock the boat while Aries will charge forward in pursuit of whatever is in their best interest. 🗡️
Aries embraces challenge and disagreement knowing that it aids in their own personal development but Libra wants to protect everyone else's peace.
But a major theme we're meant to learn in this unfolding is that becoming responsible for our own growth and wellbeing is also in everyone else's best interest.
It is everyone’s responsibility to focus on themselves and put themselves first, because if everyone is doing that, no one has to sacrifice themselves to save another.
The eclipse is also squaring Pluto and occurring near Chiron, so this ones going to dredge up unconscious wounds that might feel uncomfortable to face. (Grab your emotional support blanket. 🧸)
Then, on October 28th, we have a lunar eclipse in Taurus that is going to write the last chapter in the series we’ve been in since November 2021.
Whatever house Taurus falls in your chart, this is its grand finale. 🎬
You've been under metamorphosis in this area and its finally tying up all of its loose ends.
Reflect on the past year and a half and make your last releases into the universe.
Taurus is also ruled by Venus and will have that energy leading the way.
It will be conjunct Jupiter, meaning that abundance and protective energy will be present during this time period, and the moon does well in Taurus, so there is some beneficial energy that will help ease the load.
The shadow side of Taurus can involve greed and stubbornness.
Releasing attachment doesn’t flow easily to this sign, so you might feel some fiction or reluctance to let go of something. 💢
Taurus also is a practical earth sign that can cling tightly to things because of the time and energy they feel they’ve already invested, but there is no sense in holding onto things after they have stopped serving their purpose.
If you have to control something or cling tightly to something in order for it to stay in your life, it was never meant to be there in the first place.
If it can’t survive on its own, it's not the natural flow of things.
Let the chips fall.
Don’t force yourself up stream.
What is the worst that could happen if you agreed to take your hands off the wheel?
Even just for a minute?
